Sarasota Hotels That Double as Works of Art

Life truly imitates art when you stay overnight in Sarasota, Florida.

If Sarasota’s art museums, galleries and performance spaces inspire you, why stop the experience when you leave for the day? Across the destination, a collection of thoughtfully designed hotels invites you to stay surrounded by creativity—where architecture, interiors and even guest experiences reflect the spirit of Florida's Cultural Coast®.

Cirque St. Armands Beachside

New to the scene, Cirque St. Armands boutique hotel brings a whimsical nod to Sarasota’s circus heritage with a fresh, design-forward twist. Located across from Lido Beach, and walking distance from St. Armands Circle, the hotel blends bold, theatrical elements with relaxed coastal luxury—creating a stay that feels both imaginative and effortlessly chic. The property's thoughtfully designed guest rooms and striking restaurant, Ringside, are a fitting tribute to the legacy of John Ringling and the artistic spirit that continues to shape Sarasota today.

Art Ovation Hotel, Autograph Collection

In the heart of Downtown Sarasota’s Cultural District, Art Ovation Hotel blurs the line between hotel and gallery. Rotating exhibitions, live performances and artist-in-residence programming transform every stay into an immersive creative experience, while in-room sketchbooks and hands-on workshops invite guests to tap into their own artistic side.

While some of the crown jewels of the arts attractions are a short walk from hotel lobby, Art Ovation can be considered a museum in its own right with carefully curated art pieces on display around the property, hallways and rooms. Gallery exhibitions and original collections rotate quarterly inside the foyer along with jazz performances, markets, art classes and other demonstrations held within the lobby.

Just outside, explore Sarasota's many downtown arts venues on Palm Avenue, Pineapple Avenue and Main Street—including the Sarasota Opera House, Florida Studio Theatre and dozens of contemporary art galleries.

The Sarasota Modern, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

A celebration of the region’s iconic architectural movement, The Sarasota Modern channels the clean lines and indoor-outdoor flow of the Sarasota School of Architecture. Located on the aptly named Boulevard of the Arts, the building was designed in the Sarasota Modernist tradition as an homage to the famous mid-century movement and masters of this area. Guests will notice crisp architectural lines, funky artwork, a lush tropical atmosphere and design elements that prioritize natural sunlight. The property, including its whimsy restaurant Wink Wink Food and Drink, pool deck and guest patios pair bold design with a playful, contemporary energy—making it a natural fit for travelers drawn to form, function and creativity.

For an artful meal during your stay, and just steps from The Sarasota Modern, head to Arts & Central Restaurant. Inventive, shareable dishes and curated wine pairings are served in a gallery-like setting filled with rotating local artwork as the menus, plus live music and creative energy that mirrors the surrounding Rosemary Arts District.

voco Sarasota, an IHG Hotel

Just across the street, also on Boulevard of the Arts, is the newly branded boutique hotel voco Sarasota. The stylish lobby, guest rooms and on-site restaurant, Offshore Bistro & Bar, all evoke a coastal-chic ambiance with a modern, artful twist—featuring tropical murals, abstract artwork, statement light fixtures, colorful rugs and contemporary decor. Anyone with a design sense or just an appreciation for curated spaces will be pleased with their stay here.

Uniquely located across from Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and Art Center Sarasota, a stay here means you can snag tickets for a Broadway show or concert, or explore the exhibits within the neighboring gallery and be a short walking distance from your suite. Also within a short jaunt is The Bay Park, where free community programming include plein air painting classes, live music and outdoor movie nights for lovers of film.

Escape Resort & Marina

escape resort casey key

In 2019, the owners of Escape Resort & Marina on Casey Key brought in artist Hiero Veiga to spice up the outside of their quaint, luxurious villas. His work has since transformed the multi-bedroom beachfront units into head-turning murals ranging from brightly colored animals to a hyper-realistic portrait of the property's maintenance man and dog. Park a boat in the property's 15-slip marina and spend some time lounging between a villa and Nokomis Beach to recharge those creative juices!

Bonus: The John Ringling House on Lido Key

OK, this one isn't a hotel per se, but anyone who appreciates art, history and culture will appreciate the chance to stay in a home on the National Register of Historic Places. Located in the famous Ringling Estates development on Lido Key near St. Armands Circle, the 1924 Mediterranean Revival estate is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece and the former home of famous circus magnate John Ringling. Ringling is of course known for living in the Ca' d'Zan Mansion on what is now The Ringling, but this gated cultural gem on Lido retains plenty of similar historic splendor from a time when the circus family ruled Sarasota.
