The Sarasota Music Festival is a long-time Sarasota favorite event! This year's re-imagined Festival will feature four concerts and a lecture over eight days in June 2021. Concert 1, "Voices of the Violin," will take place Saturday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. It will feature Angelo Xiang Yu, violin, and Feng Niu, piano, performing Mozart: Violin Sonata No. 18 in G Major; Britten: Suite for Violin and Piano; and Beethoven: Violin Sonata No. 5 in F Major, “Spring.” Jeffrey Kahane, Festival Music Director, will offer a lecture on Sunday, June 13 at 4:00 p.m. on “The Romantic Revolution.” Concert 2, "Majestic Cello," will take place Wednesday, June 16 at 7:30 p.m. It will feature Jeffrey Kahane, piano, and Clive Greensmith, cello, performing Brahms: Cello Sonata No. 1 in E Minor and Brahms: Cello Sonata No. 2 in F Major. Concert 3, "Dedications," will take place Friday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. It will feature Angie Zhang, piano performing Clara Schumann: Variations on a Theme of Robert Schumann; Caroline Shaw: Gustave le Gray; and Chopin: Sonata No. 3 in B Minor. Concert 4, "Calidore Quartet," will take place Saturday, June 19 at 7:30 p.m. It will feature Jeffrey Kahane, piano, and The Calidore String Quartet: Jeffrey Myers, violin; Ryan Meehan, violin; Jeremy Berry, viola; and Estelle Choi, cello. They will perform Schumann: Quintet in E-flat Major and Mendelssohn: Quartet No. 6 in F Minor.
