Weekend Itinerary for the Siesta Key Crystal Classic
Making the trip to Siesta Key for the annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic? We've got the perfect itinerary sculpted for you.
Print This Itinerary 🖨️Each November, Siesta Beach—one of America's most beautiful beaches—transforms into an extraordinary outdoor gallery for the annual Siesta Key Crystal Classic Sand Sculpting Festival. This year's 16th-anniversary event brings together 24 master sand sculptors from around the globe to carve towering temporary works of art out of our beaches' famous crystal-quartz sand. Working 8 hours a day, they transform the sand into works of art in four days.
Friday, November 13 – Monday, November 16, you can watch artists build massive solo and team sculptures, attend demos and lessons, cheer on speed-sculpting events, and vote for your favorite in the People’s Choice Award. Enjoy live music all weekend long and a lively vendor village to shop over 100 specialty artisan wares and sample local bites. Not sure where to spend your time between the festival's events? We've got you covered...
Start your morning with a fresh smoothie or house-brewed coffee from local roaster Mojo Risin, located in the heart of Siesta Key Village. Then head over to the festival for all the action, as the event kicks off with the opening of Vendor Village, featuring everything from handmade wares to delicious bites from Siesta Beach Eats. As the sand sculptors progress their piles of sand into works of art, spend time in the Party Tent, with live music and a full bar open to the public every day of the festival.
Once you've worked up an appetite, head back to the Village for dinner. There, find visitor-favorite The Old Salty Dog, a family-friendly restaurant boasting “Florida Keys feel with a British twist." For something a bit more elevated, grab a table on the hidden back patio for cocktails and specialty dishes at The Cottage. Before heading back to your hotel or vacation rental, finish your first night by grabbing a cone from one of the many ice cream shops down Ocean Boulevard.
In the morning, catch some seaside Zen to start your day with Siesta Key Beach Yoga at 8:30 a.m.—right on Siesta Beach (just bring a mat or towel). Fuel up after with coffee at Captain Curt's Siesta Key Coffee Shop. Venture back to the festival to participate in or witness the Adult Amateur Sand Sculpting Competition. Enjoy live bands play, some Sand Sculpting Demos & Lessons, and an ongoing competition of speed and skill. Today the sculptors will have begun the transformation of their sand and their visions will begin to unfold. Many of the artists love to chat while they work. Hundreds of competitions, decades of education and practice, and tales of international world travel are under their sun-drenched belts. Set up your chair – they are permitted as long as the path is not blocked – and watch and learn.
When you're ready to wrap your beach day, grab a Veo scooter, catch the trolley, or jump back in the car to head back to Siesta Key Village. Grab an oyster happy hour and local brews at the famous Siesta Key Oyster Bar or an early dinner of elevated bar bites and frozen daiquiris (virgin or spiked) at the popular Daiquiri Deck Raw Bar. After dinner, stroll and shop the local boutiques for clothing, bathing suits, souvenirs, décor, and more. Don't miss shops like Beach Bazaar, Casa del Sol, Marmalade Surfside, Sandal Factory, Sea Shanty, and Gidget's Coastal Provisions.
If the crew is up for it, head back to the Siesta Beach on Saturday evening—a special festival highlight includes Sculptures After Dark, when the sculptures are illuminated under colored lights after sunset (until 9 p.m.) as a cover band plays to the audience and nighttime sky.
Sunday Funday means time to get in the water (if you haven't already!). Venture early in the morning to CB's Saltwater Outfitters and have your pick of boat tours, parasailing, Jet Skiing rentals, fishing charters, and more! Since this is farther south of the key, you can catch the Siesta Key Breeze Trolley for free (running daily, 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.).
After your morning adventure, grab a laid-back lunch at the giant tiki huts of Spearfish Grille and Captain Curt's Crab & Oyster Bar—both down the road from CB's. Enjoy the island vibes at these landmark eateries, as well as fresh-caught seafood and tropical drinks. Catch the trolley or drive back to the event for the Youth Amateur Contest and watch as the artists put the finishing touches on their sand-sculpted masterpieces. By 3 p.m., the Masters Award Ceremony will take place, announcing the 2026 winners of the Siesta Key Crystal Classic.
Catch another dreamy Gulf Coast sunset in front of the Public Pavilion before the week's end. There, you'll be pleasantly awakened by a lively local party. The Siesta Key Drum Circle happens every Sunday evening around sundown—celebrating freedom of dance and music for anyone and everyone who wants to join in on the festivities.
End the day on a high note back in the Village for a hearty Italian meal and glass of wine at Cafe Gabbiano. Muster any remaining energy for a pop into Siesta Key’s largest tiki bar, The Big Tiki Lounge, for dessert, be it chocolate cake or a rum runner.
Grab some breakfast to-go from Sun Garden Café and walk down to the beach to wake up alongside the sun. Stroll along the water’s edge to gather shells to bring home as the birds start diving and back to the massive – some up to 10 feet tall! - sand sculptures to cast your vote for the winner of the People’s Choice Award. Appreciate the final masterpieces on what’s generally the quietest day of the Crystal Classic. Live music and Vendor Village keep the island vibes flowing, but the competition is finished and the artists have moved on. As their sculptures becomes part of the beach again, it reminds us through their temporary art to live in the moment and be truly present. Where better to be in the now than at Siesta Key Beach!
Don some real shoes for the first time in days to feast on French delicacies at Miguel’s. From escargot to chateaubriand, each dish will have you declaring “ooh la la!” Grab a sweetened nightcap at Blase Martini Bar for dessert martinis and cheers to an eventful weekend on Siesta Key!
