Catch the Rhythm at Annual Festivals
Sarasota County’s festival calendar brings together talented musicians, local food vendors and enthusiastic crowds for weekends full of toe-tapping fun under the sun.
Lakewood Ranch Blues Festival

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Waterside Place, the new Lakewood Ranch Blues Festival brings soulful guitar riffs and powerful vocals to the waterfront in December. The event showcases a full lineup of talented blues artists while visitors explore nearby restaurants, outdoor patios and scenic lakefront views. It’s a perfect pairing: world-class blues music and a lively town center atmosphere where you can grab dinner, a drink and settle in for a night of great performances.
Venice Blues, Rock, Reggae and BBQ
Further south, the Venice Blues and BBQ celebrates the genre with a three-day lineup of musicians from all over the country and rising artists. Hosted on the mainstage of Venice Airport Festival Grounds, families and music lovers alike gather for a weekend of live muralist painting, craft vendors, drinks, food truck bites and plenty of finger-lickin’ good barbecue from award-winning pitmasters. Check out the lively atmosphere in March to sample smoky brisket and ribs while enjoying fast-paced banjo solos and breezy performances.
Discover Live Roots Music Year-Round
Even when festival season winds down, Sarasota’s live music venues keep the sounds of blues, folk, rock, reggae and bluegrass alive all throughout the year.
Free Outdoor Music at Town Centers & Parks

The Bay Park features free live performances each week, including bluegrass groups like The Wandering Hours, for its Sundays at The Bay concert series. Spread out on the lawn with a picnic, enjoy the sunset over Sarasota Bay and let the music carry the evening.
Similarly, master-planned community town centers, Waterside Place and Wellen Park, host weekly outdoor shows from local talent. Waterside's Live Music at the Plaza takes place under the pavilion overlooking Kingfisher Lake on weekend evenings. You'll also find live music at its popular Ranch Nite Wednesdays, along with savory eats from food trucks. At Wellen Park, the spacious amphitheater and lawn area is a draw for families and couples looking to unwind, lounge and jam. Its Daily Live Music Series takes place every evening, with a rotating lineup of musicians and the beautiful backdrop of Grand Lake.
A Stage for Folk & Roots at Fogartyville
Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center has become a beloved hub for folk, roots and Americana music. The intimate venue regularly hosts touring bluegrass bands, acoustic performers and singer-songwriters, creating an up-close listening experience that feels both authentic and welcoming.
Historic Downtown Sounds
If you’re looking for blues with a side of nightlife, downtown Sarasota offers plenty of options. The legendary The Gator Club regularly hosts live music in a historic 1913 building that has long been part of Sarasota’s nightlife scene.
Pair the Music with Authentic BBQ
Of course, no exploration of vibey, feel-good music would be complete without tasty food. Luckily, Sarasota County delivers plenty of places to enjoy smoky flavors alongside a lively atmosphere.

Backyard Bites at Owen’s Fish Camp
In Historic Burns Court, Owen's Fish Camp blends Southern cooking with a lively, down-home vibe. The restaurant’s welcoming porch and outdoor space features a backyard grill for boiled peanuts, fish dip and crackers, oysters, Gulf shrimp and other local favorites. Enjoy nightly live music that adds to the laid-back Southern charm.
Slow-Smoked Classics at Brick’s Smoked Meats
For barbecue purists, Brick's Smoked Meats delivers Texas-style, chophouse favorites, including expertly smoked brisket, ribs, rotisserie chicken and house-made sausages. Enjoy local brews, weekend live music and a rustic, open-air vibe. It’s the perfect downtown stop before heading out to a nearby bar or music venue.
Southern Roots at Stottlemyer’s Smokehouse
Set on a wooded property east of town, Stottlemyer's Smokehouse is famous for its barbecue and its live music lineup. Bluegrass and country bands frequently perform on the outdoor stage, making it one of the best places in the region to enjoy slow-cooked brisket, tender ribs, pulled pork, po'boys and a night of jam band music under the oak trees.
Comfort Food at Mouthole BBQ
A cult-favorite in Sarasota’s Gulf Gate neighborhood, Mouthole BBQ serves up no-frills, flavor-packed smashburgers and traditional barbecue. What started as a popular local food truck has evolved into a laid-back brick-and-mortar spot where locals line up for crispy-edged burgers, hearty BBQ plates and rotating specials.
A Beloved Sarasota Music Spot Gets a New Chapter
For decades, Snook Haven Park was a beloved gathering spot where visitors could enjoy live bluegrass along the Myakka River while digging into baskets of fried fish and Southern favorites.
The historic park is currently closed undergoing a transformation—with Sarasota County working on a reimagined vision for the historic property. When it reopens, the destination will bring new life to this cherished Old-Florida landmark while honoring its legacy of riverside music, food and community.
Foundations have been installed for a new pavilion and patio, a new band shell (outdoor performance stage), food service, outfitter facility and boat dock/fishing pier. Mark your calendars for the anticipated Grand Opening in summer 2026!
