Game of Throws: Where to Find Cornhole Around Sarasota

Looking for some laid-back fun in Sarasota County? There are plenty of places to find everyone's favorite tailgate game. Whether you're a seasoned pro looking for a tournament or just want to enjoy a friendly social match, Sarasota's got a variety of venues where you can test your bag-tossing skills and soak up the sunshine. 

Wellen Park:

As part of the Wellen Park planned community in Venice, find the ultimate downtown hub for dining, shopping, outdoor activities and entertainment. With plenty of open space and awesome amenities, it's the perfect spot for a friendly game with friends and family. On Wednesdays, enjoy Wellen Wednesday's Drop-In Cornhole, 6pm-10pm on Wellen Park Boulevard. You can also keep an eye out for community events on the weekends where you may be able to find some bag toss happenings.

Waterside Place:

Located in Lakewood Ranch, Waterside Place is another vibrant waterfront destination with a variety of restaurants, shops and entertainment options. On Thursdays, 10am-11am, head to the outdoor turf area between Good Liquid Brewing and CROP Juice, to find Casual Cornhole set up for visitors and residents to meet new friends and enjoy a morning game by the water. After a round or two, grab a bite to eat at Forked at Waterside or take a leisurely stroll along the promenade. 

And on Ranch Nite Wednesdays, 6pm-9pm (Oct-May), you can catch a rotating lineup of food trucks parked all along the main drag, as well as live music under the pavilion and a giant cornhole competition at the end of the plaza!

University Town Center (UTC): 

While shopping and dining may be the main attractions at University Town Center, The Green at UTC is also a hotspot for cornhole enthusiasts. Grab a bite to eat from one of the many surrounding restaurants before challenging your friends to some serious bag tossing during one of UTC's Cornhole Tournaments. Tournaments happen almost monthly, where teams are divided into two divisions: a social division for novice/intermediate players and a competitive division for advanced players competing for ACL Local Points. 

Breweries & Beer Gardens: 

Many breweries and beer gardens throughout Sarasota County offer cornhole as part of their outdoor entertainment options. At Motorworks Brewing, Florida's largest beer garden, find 10+ cornhole sets, as well as Giant Jenga and Connect Four games. The brewery is even having a Sip & Toss Cornhole event on March 26th, 7pm. 

Mandeville Beer Garden also has cornhole boards set up for patrons to enjoy while sipping on pints of craft beers and soaking up the sun on the front lawn, while Calusa Brewing's cornhole setup is inside its brand-new Taproom along with other fun bar games.
