Savor Sarasota Concludes with Bon Vivants Relishing Thousands of Meals in Short Order

SARASOTA, Fla. (June 21, 2021) – If you built it, they will come”, and come they did for this year’s 16th annual Savor Sarasota. Chefs across the community developed special multi-course menus that their guests devoured quickly over a two-week period.

Epicurean seekers filled participating restaurants to capacity many nights, relishing classics and discovering new dishes that they’ll seek out on future visits. This year’s 2021 Savor Sarasota had over 40 area Visit Sarasota County restaurant partners participating in the once-a-year dining event.  In a mere fourteen days, these restaurants throughout Sarasota County served nearly 25,000 guests for lunch and/or dinner, serving two and three-course menus.

The post pandemic influx of guests eager to venture out and eat their way around the community has monetary benefits for local eateries, feeding tens of thousands of dollars into the Sarasota economy.   After a tough 2020, this is a much-needed boost to our local restaurants.  Michael Klauber, owner of Michael’s on East said, “This year we saw a 41% increase over our Savor Sarasota numbers from 2019. Everyone was hungry to get out and dine.”

Erin Duggan, Vice President of Visit Sarasota County said, “We are delighted that this year’s Savor Sarasota program was successful for our restaurant partners, it’s the whole reason we created it in 2005. It’s rewarding to see this program continue to flourish throughout our restaurant community. We believe we have the most talented chefs in the state and Sarasota has an incredible assortment of dining options that inspires all bon vivants.”

Just in case you were still in hibernation mode and missed the official Savor Sarasota, don’t worry, several restaurants are extending their Savor Sarasota menus. Among area restaurants still offering multi-course menus (dates, menus and pricing vary):

Visit Sarasota County created Restaurant Week in 2005 with the goal to help area restaurants thrive during what was formerly known as “Off Season” by encouraging visitors and locals to discover the culinary treasures in Sarasota.  The first year Savor Sarasota had 25 locally owned restaurants joining the promotion and over the past 15 years restaurant participation has grown to nearly 100 partners.
