Squeaky Wheel Fringe is Making Noise & Louder Than Ever!

Squeaky Wheel Fringe is back June 3rd-8th, 2025 at the Jane B. Cook Theatre located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts!

Squeaky Wheel Theatre Group is gearing up for its second year of Squeaky Wheel Fringe; a six-day, 20+ performance event featuring local and national artists. It provides an inclusive & accepting artistic environment that is unafraid to be loud, push boundaries, and to challenge artists & audiences alike.

What is Fringe Theatre? A performance arts smorgasbord: original, uncensored, accessible to artists & audiences alike, and all of the works are artist driven and produced. The acts feature a diverse group of creators producing a wide range of content from musical theatre, to dance, to spoken-word pieces, and more.

This Year’s Shows Include:
• Did You Not Know? - Sarasota, FL (Theatre) Did You Not Know? is a collection of true stories about loss, love, and second chances that will have you laughing, cringing, and thinking, “How did she not know?” It’s also a love letter to Sarasota—coming back home as an adult after years away. Written and performed by Terrance Jackson.
• Untethered Breath- Sarasota, FL (Dance) Untethered Breath is an ethereal dance piece that dives into one’s journey of life. The breath of our journey is impacted by decisions of those around us, as well as our own. Ultimately, this breath changes one's energy, radiating out to others, and affecting them in either a positive or negative manner. To enhance the perspective of the piece, this ripple of energy between souls will be portrayed using multiple mediums of art.
• Mamá Mala- Sarasota, FL (Dance Theatre/Stand-Up Comedy) Mamá Mala, is a one-woman, bilingual, dance theater piece that pays homage to all the mothers who felt like they could do better, and to all children that wished they had a better mother. The work seeks to shed light on the overlooked, the expectations, and the judgements on today's women and the culture we live in.
• The Paradox of the Mirror- Lakewood Ranch, FL (Dance) The Paradox of the Mirror, choreographed by Tania Vergara Perez for Endedans Contemporary Ballet, is an interdisciplinary work combining dance, video, and painting to explore the relationship between time, identity, and memory. The work draws inspiration from Cuban artist Guillermo López González’s depiction of the mangrove and its diverse forms.
• Worthy Souls- Bradenton, FL (Musical Theatre) Worthy Souls, a musical based on real-life-real-people, centers around Skye, a homeless schizophrenic, tortured by awful and debilitating childhood memories. He has descended into destructive behavior as he battles it out with his alter-egos.
• The Dropping Well- Tampa, FL (Theatre) A new one-woman adventure is based on the true story of Ursula Sontheil aka Mother Shipton: famous Tudor soothsayer, daughter of the devil, and legend long after her lifetime. Follow Ursula on a funny, moving and mind-blowing journey through her life, through time, and on to eternal fame.
• Wow Wee! Adventures of a Little Girl Killbot Christmas Special! - NY, NY (Improv) IRTE is back at Squeaky Wheel again with Wow Wee! Adventures of a Little Girl Killbot Christmas Special! is a live, improvised, post-apocalyptic 80s sitcom Christmas Special! What's a little girl robot to do now that the singularity has occurred –and just in time for Christmas? Check in with the Trumans, America's favorite TV family and their mechanical moppet, Andie the Android, as they face the End of the World and discover the True Meaning of Christmas (or else). Wow Wee! It's a post-apocalyptic 80s sitcom Christmas Special!
• The Creative Challenge- What's a Creative Challenge? It's a non-genre specific exhibition where participating artists receive a single prompt, and a limited amount of time later get to showcase their response to it. After the success of January's 24-Hour Creative Challenge Squeaky Wheel decided to offer a week-long edition with the theme being announced at our Fringe Teaser show. This is a unique experience you won't want to miss out on!

What makes Squeaky Wheel Fringe different? It’s all about artist advocacy and support. 100% of the base ticket price for each show goes back to the artist to help support them in doing what they do best…Create! We believe that one of the best ways to support the arts is by supporting the artist and giving a home to unique, wild, and wonderful original works!

Tickets will be available for purchase by the general public in early May.

The Fringe umbrella spans many styles, so some shows may have an age-limit, and content warnings will be clearly posted as needed.
