Shop till You Drop in Downtown Venice

Venice Avenue is a prime spot for browsing and buying

Whether you're looking for something specific or have a little extra cash burning a hole in your pocket, downtown Venice is a great place to do some shopping. All kinds of boutiques line Venice Avenue, offering everything from stylish apparel to seaworthy gifts.

Clothes Calls

If you're in need of attire for the beach, country club, or a special event, you can find it here. Head to Fugate's for tropical-hued tunics and boating-worthy striped tops or SunBug for a large selection of swimsuits ranging from modest one-pieces to bandeau bikinis. Across the road sits Sandy's Designer Clothing, run by a 50-year retail veteran. It carries American-made clothing from brands like Bryn Walker and Match Point and is the only store in Venice to offer the Oh My Gauze line.

Farther down the avenue, Captain's Landing stocks preppy-meets-resort-worthy apparel for men and women from names like Tori Richard and Kahala, all displayed in an attractive, island-style setting. At Seaside Chic Boutique, shoppers find fashion-forward dresses and separates for women as well as versatile jewelry, handbags, and other accessories.

For the Home

Whether you own a beach house or simply dream of living by the sand, a stop at Seaside Chic will help outfit your pad in coastal style. The shop carries home furnishings and accessories with a definite by-the-shore vibe, from starfish-emblazoned pillows and driftwood decor to comfy reading chairs and shell-centric accents.

If Shabby Chic is more your style, head to Posh. The dreamy-looking boutique is stocked with linens, distressed furnishings, ornate mirrors, and everything else you would need to give your home vintage flair.

The Tabletop skews more modern, carrying sleek glassware and serving pieces from brands like Alessi, Bodum, and Leonardo. Find colorfully hued bowls and tumblers, interestingly shaped platters and trays, and kitchen gadgets galore.

Kids' Corner

If you have little ones in tow or grandkids back at home, pay a visit to Nana's. The charming children's shop is filled with all kinds of pint-sized pleasures, including books, cool toys, and sweet apparel for babies to bigger kids.

Stuffed-animal fans can choose from all kinds of plush critters at Celebration Corner. Also on the shelves? Puzzles, games, and a wide selection of Melissa & Doug products.

Gifts Galore

Looking for a souvenir from your Sarasota County vacation or a gift for a friend or family member? You'll come across lots of options in downtown Venice.

Venice Stationers is a local go-to for gifts. Shoppers can find beach-inspired picture frames and servingware, golf-themed merchandise, pretty dishtowels, puzzles, and kids' activity and story books focused on Sunshine State creatures.

The mermaid's grotto–like Sirene Coastal Interiors trades in items with a true under-the-sea feel. Shelves and display tables show off a large selection of home goods and jewelry decorated with shells, coral, and other sea-life motifs.

To pamper yourself after a full day of shopping, make your final stop Cleopatra's Bath & Body. Stock up on lotions, soaps, and other beauty products from names like Thymes and Crabtree & Evelyn, then enjoy a little R&R after giving your credit cards a workout.
