Sports Tourism Ties Sarasota County to Tokyo

Sarasota County will host a multitude of new sports visitors - many of whom will also make the trip to Tokyo for the 2020 Summer Olympics. The recently held USA BMX Gator National at Sarasota BMX, and upcoming ITU Triathlon and Paratriathlon World Cup and the U.S. Rowing Olympic and Paralympic Team Trials at Nathan Benderson Park affords Sarasota County the opportunity to be part of these athletes' lifelong memories of their journey to the Olympic podium. The sports organizers working with VSC estimate nearly 5,000 room nights as a result of these events!

The 2020 ITU Triathlon & Paratriathlon World Cup needs event volunteers for Saturday, March 21 – Sunday, March 22 at Nathan Benderson Park.

If you are looking to volunteer on behalf of an organization, USA Triathlon is offering a volunteer group grant award. For 10-20 individuals, a $500 donation will be granted to your organization if remaining funds permit.

Spring Training

The Atlanta Braves are in the swing of their first full spring training season at the new CoolToday Park in North Port, and the Baltimore Orioles are celebrating its 10^th season at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota.

Spring training opened with a game between Sarasota County’s two spring training teams, at CoolToday Park on Saturday, February 22!
