About Banfi
Castello Banfi is a winery estate located near Montalcino, Tuscany, in the heart of the Brunello di Montalcino region. It was founded in 1978 by brothers John and Harry Mariani, Italian-Americans from New York, in partnership with the respected Tuscan enologist Ezio Rivella.

The Marianis’ goal was ambitious:
• To create a state-of-the-art winery that could produce world-class wines rooted in Tuscan tradition.
• To combine modern winemaking science with respect for local terroir and culture.
• To revive and elevate Brunello di Montalcino on the global stage.

At the time, Montalcino was a quiet hill town with only a few dozen producers. Banfi’s large investment helped transform it into one of Italy’s most prestigious wine regions.
