The Jazz Club of Sarasota, one of the largest and most active jazz societies in the United States, is dedicated to preserving, presenting and promoting jazz, America's original musical art form. Founded in 1980 by the late Hal Davis, the former publicist for Benny Goodman, the Jazz Club has approximately 1,000 members and is growing. The Club has provided over 70 jazz-related events annually for more than 40 years. Chief among them is the highly respected weeklong Sarasota Jazz Festival, which presents some of the greatest musicians on today's jazz scene in an eclectic mix of events. Other ongoing Jazz Club programs include Friday's Jazz at Two concerts from October through April, Jazz on the Water cruises and the Monday Night Jazz series. The Jazz Club is also producing the Giving Hunger the Blues concert, a very successful event that raises funds to support families in need. The Jazz Club also promotes high school jazz bands and has granted nearly one-quarter million dollars in scholarships to aspiring young jazz musicians over the years. Join us to share in the excitement of live jazz performances by masterful established musicians and talented rising stars!
