Historic Downtown Venice

Gather at Centennial Park gazebo and fountains for a rotating lineup of local bands and community musicians at Friday Night Concert Series. The beloved public event takes place every second and fourth Friday of the month, from 7–9 p.m.

Before the music starts, grab a spot the lawn with a blanket or chair before walking across the street for some takeout. Refreshing drinks and beachy bites await at the Daiquiri Deck for you to enjoy al fresco style. If you're looking for something a bit more romantic, walk across Venice Avenue to make reservations at San Marco for elevated Italian cuisine in an intimate European ambiance. 

Downtown Wellen Park

This fast-growing district comes alive several nights a week with free live music events outside of Solis Hall (Thursday–Saturday, 6–9 p.m.). Set against the stunning backdrop of Grand Lake and surrounded by live oaks, it's an easygoing way to wind down into the weekend.

Keep it casual and close-by at The Yard. Wellen Park's retrofitted shipping containers—Lakeside Bites, Pop Dawgs and Lago Tacos—function as permanent food trucks, serving items like gourmet hot dogs, paninis and more. The casual grab-and-go options are perfect for enjoying dinner right on the lawn picnic-style or under the iconic Heritage Tree while relaxing tunes fill the evening air.

Waterside Place

Catch Live Music at the Plaza every Friday and Saturday, 6–9 p.m., while taking in waterfront views of Kingfisher Lake. Or plan around the monthly Sights & Sounds series which showcases local theater performances, orchestras, a cappella groups and dance troupes. Seating is limited for these events—feel free to bring a lawn chair.

One of best things about Waterside Place is that you can enjoy margaritas and tacos right from Agave Bandido's takeout window and outside lounge, which happens to be directly beside the pavilion where live music is played. Snag a table or couch for front-row seats to the lakeside show. Alternatively, opt for a more sophisticated sit-down dinner by strolling across the street to Kore Steakhouse between sets. The authentic Korean barbecue is a show in and of itself right at your table.

Downtown Sarasota

On the first Friday of every month, the city blocks off a different street for Fresh Fridays, a free outdoor party featuring live entertainment, music and food, from 7–10 p.m. It’s the ultimate way to taste the local flavor while dancing in the street.

If you’d prefer a sit-down dinner beforehand at one of Sarasota's downtown restaurants, stroll over to Boca for farm-to-table in a stylish setting, Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse for a classic steakhouse meal or State Street Eating House for innovative dishes and craft cocktails. All three restaurants are within a block of one another and will inevitably be right near all the action of the block party.
