Sarasota Memorial Health Care System - Venice Campus
2600 Laurel Rd E, North Venice, FL 34275 (941) 261-9000 [email protected]One of the largest public health systems in Florida, Sarasota Memorial Health Care System has continually evolved from its modest beginning as the county's first community hospital. Our mission to deliver high-quality healthcare for our community has been steadfast since we first began serving patients in 1925 at the 32-bed Sarasota Hospital, and our growth has been shaped by and for the community.
Today, we are a full-service public health system, with two hospitals offering specialized expertise in heart, vascular, cancer, orthopedic and neuroscience services, as well as a state-of-the-art cancer care center and a network of outpatient centers, urgent care centers, laboratories, diagnostic imaging and physician practices, skilled nursing and rehabilitation among our many programs.
Opened in the Fall of 2021, Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice provides south Sarasota residents convenient access to the same level of care and 5-Star physicians, staff and systems available at our SMH-Sarasota Campus. A full-service, acute care hospital, SMH-Venice was built to serve the growing south Sarasota County area and enhance healthcare across the region.
SMH-Venice offers a full slate of medical and surgical care — from cardiology, orthopedics and intensive care to surgery and comprehensive labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum care.
Located at the intersection of Laurel and Pinebrook roads near I-75 in Venice, Fla., the 65-acre Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice campus features:
- 178 private patient suites, a 28-bed emergency care center, 8 surgical suites and an inpatient rehabilitation / recovery gym.
- A 2-story, 60,000-square-foot medical office building for physician and specialty care practices.
Healthcare services at SMH-Venice include:
Emergency Care (ER) — With 28 beds, 2 trauma/resuscitation rooms, X-ray and a stroke care hub, the SMH-Venice ER is open 24/7 to treat and diagnose injury, stroke, cardiac events, allergic reactions and other emergent conditions.
Radiology — The SMH-Venice Radiology Department offers inpatient and outpatient imaging, including MRI, CT scans, fluoroscopy and X-rays. It also features 2 nuclear medicine suites, stress testing and a bi-plane interventional radiology suite. Breast health services at SMH-Venice includes ultrasound and bone density testing, 3D mammography and a stereotactic biopsy suite.
Maternity Services — The SMH-Venice Labor / Delivery / Recovery / Post-Partum Unit (LDRP) supports women and babies at every step of their journey. All 10 Birthing Suites are private and cozy; 8 are equipped with a laboring tub for patient comfort. The suites are designed so that laboring women, their support person/people and baby can stay together in the same room throughout the birth experience — from labor and delivery through recovery and post-partum.
Orthopedic / Surgical Unit — With 34 private patient suites, the SMH-Venice Ortho team provides the same nationally recognized excellence in orthopedic and surgical care that we’ve provided for decades at the SMH-Sarasota campus.
Cardiac Care — Equipped with 346 private patient suites, the specialized Cardiac Care Unit is designed to monitor and treat patients presenting with serious or acute heart problems.
Critical Care — Built amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) utilizes a negative pressure ventilation system to prevent airborne particles from patient's mouths or noses from leaving the isolation units and recirculating to other areas of the hospital.
Other Services — Other specialized services at SMH-Venice include Laboratory/Diagnostic Testing; Catheterization Lab; Respiratory Therapy; Endoscopy; Gastroenterology; Nephrology; Neurology/Neurosurgery; Oncology; Urology; and Interventional Radiology.
