Cooking for the Arts Brings European Flair to Sarasota with “The Art of the Table”

SSFA’s fifth annual fundraiser celebrates culinary creativity and supports arts education at Southside Elementary

The Southside School Foundation for the Arts (SSFA) invites the community to its fifth annual Cooking for the Arts: The Art of the Table, taking place Friday, January 29, 2027, at 6:30 p.m. at Michael’s On East Ballroom, 1212 S. East Ave., Sarasota. Co-chaired by Amy Allen, Lauren Allegra, and Molly Biter, the evening will bring European-inspired cuisine, art, and celebration together to benefit Southside Elementary students.

Under the theme “Inspired by the Masters. Created for the Next Generation,” this year’s event draws inspiration from Europe’s rich artistic traditions. Bold color, expressive design and references to visual art, music, dance and theatre will create an atmosphere inspired by a European arts salon.

The event’s signature interactive dining experience invites guests to become part of the culinary artistry. With guidance from Phil Mancini and Jamil Pineda of Michael’s On East, guests will collaborate at their tables, sharing the experience of cooking and enjoying a meal together. The committee is developing a European-inspired menu to complement the evening’s theme.

Beyond the table, guests will enjoy music, dancing and a live auction featuring specialty experiences and exclusive opportunities. Businesses and individuals interested in contributing an exceptional auction package or supporting the event through sponsorship are encouraged to contact the event committee.

Funds raised will support arts and cultural enrichment at Southside Elementary. SSFA helps fund dance instruction, student productions, and supplies, equipment and instruments that extend beyond district funding. These resources give students opportunities to explore their talents, build confidence and experience the arts throughout their elementary education.

Individual tickets are $300 and are available now. Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets early to secure their spot. The suggested dress is European cocktail attire - color encouraged.

Members of the media interested in covering the event or arranging interviews with the event chairs may contact Molly Klauber Biter.
