Westin Hotel breaks ground in Sarasota County

 

SARASOTA, Fla. (September 19, 2014) – Westin Hotel, a Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, broke ground yesterday, September 18, 2014, on a 255-room property that will overlook Sarasota Bay. Slated to open in the summer of 2016, the hotel will bring its signature wellness and revitalizing concept to the area. Kolter Hospitality LLC is the developer.

Within walking distance to Sarasota’s arts and cultural scene, downtown and Bayfront and a short drive to St. Armands Circle and Lido Key, the hotel will appeal to both leisure and business travelers.

“We are thrilled to have the Westin coming to Sarasota County,” says Virginia Haley, President of Visit Sarasota County. “We are already getting positive feedback and growing excitement within the community and travel industry for this new property. We are excited to start promoting it this year.”

The hotel will also offer 15,000 square feet of meeting facilities, a workout area and a rooftop leisure area.
