Visit Sarasota County President Re-Appointed to VISIT FLORIDA Board of Directors

June 18, 2020

SARASOTA, Fla. (June 18, 2020) – Visit Sarasota County is proud to announce that its President, Virginia J. Haley, has been re-appointed to the FLORIDA Board of Directors through June 30, 2022. Haley currently serves as the 2019-2020 Chair of the VISIT FLORIDA Board, where she worked closely with VISIT FLORIDA to ensure the not-for-profit corporation was reauthorized through October 2023 and that funding was solidified by the legislature for 2020-2021.

VISIT FLORIDA, the state's official tourism marketing corporation, serves as Florida's official source for travel planning to visitors across the globe. VISIT FLORIDA is not a government agency, but rather a not-for-profit corporation created as a public/private partnership by the Florida Legislature in 1996.

“Though we’ve faced a great deal of challenges recently, including the fight for re-authorization and funding, and the unprecedented effects of COVID-19, it has been an honor to serve as the Chair for VISIT FLORIDA’s Board of Directors,” said Haley. “I am excited to be re-appointed so I can continue to serve and work towards marketing programs that highlight Florida’s diversity and provide benefits to every community in the state.”

Visit Sarasota County, the local Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), led by Haley, is a Partner of VISIT FLORIDA and connects its initiatives and opportunities with Sarasota County industry businesses.

“VSC depends on VISIT FLORIDA’s programs to stretch its advertising dollars and reach a wider audience than we could on our own,” said Haley.
