Visit Sarasota County announces National Travel and Tourism Week award winners Dolly Jacobs is Voice of Sarasota Tourism Recipient

Sarasota, FL (May 11, 2017)--Visit Sarasota County (VSC) announced Dolly Jacobs, co-founder of the Circus Arts Conservatory, as the recipient of the 2017 National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) Voice of Sarasota Award. Members of the travel and tourism industry in Sarasota also received recognition for their work. The winners received the awards at an industry-wide friends and industry luncheon event held at Hyatt Regency Sarasota this afternoon.

The Visit Sarasota County Board of Directors choose the Voice of Sarasota winner based on Jacob’s ability to positively raise awareness of Sarasota County and affect tourism through her words, actions and deeds. 

“Dolly’s work in keeping Sarasota’s circus heritage and legacy alive throughout the world is a testament to her passion,” says Drayton Saunders, chair of Visit Sarasota Board of Directors. “Through her work at the Circus Arts Conservatory, she continues to ensure Sarasota is known as the “Circus Capital of the World.” We are proud that she calls Sarasota home.”

Additional awards bestowed upon members of the travel and tourism industry are as follows:

  • Linda Wilson, Manager of the Venice Farmers Market was awarded the Guest Service Excellence – Management award recognizing exemplary Management-level service consistently provided to guests.
  • Nicole Hancock, Concierge at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota was honored with the Guest Service Excellence: Front Line This award recognizes exemplary service consistently provided to guests by an individual who is in direct contact with the public daily.
  • Lorraine Anderson, Public Information Officer with the City of Venice was honored with the Guest Service Excellence - Heart of House This award honors a Heart of House staff member who consistently adheres to a high standard of excellence.
  • Jane Paulishak, volunteer with Marie Selby Botanical Gardens was honored with the Guest Service Excellence – Volunteer This award encourages and recognizes citizens for a volunteers’ commitment to enhancing the guest experience.
  • Renee Ryckman, owner of the Escape Countdown was honored with the Sarasota County Rising Star Award recognizes an emerging leader within the tourism industry.
