Visit Sarasota County Announces Clyde Butcher as Voice of Sarasota Tourism Winner

Sarasota, FL (May 9, 2014)--Visit Sarasota County (VSC) announced Clyde Butcher, photographer and Sarasota County resident, as the recipient of the 2014 National Tourism Week Voice of Sarasota Award . Butcher received the award at an industry-wide friends and family picnic-style event held at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens on Thursday, May 8, 2014.

The Visit Sarasota County Board of Directors choose the winner based on the winner's ability to positively raise awareness of Sarasota County and affect tourism through their words, actions and deeds. 

"People from around the world, especially nature and photography lovers, know of his beautiful photography of Florida's wild landscapes," says Michael Klauber, chair of Visit Sarasota Board of Directors. "We are proud that he calls Venice home and has his famous gallery here.  His photographs of Myakka River do more to express the beauty of that natural wonder than a 1,000 word essay."

The award is given to honor those in Sarasota County who help promote and support Sarasota as a tourist destination.  Past recipients include Nik Wallenda and Norman Schimmel.
