Sarasota featured in Chicago train car branding

Visit Sarasota County partners with Visit Florida to wrap train cars with stunning imagery in the Chicago market

January 14- March 9, 2014

 

SARASOTA, Fla. -January 14, 2014 – Folks in chilly Chicago are searching for warm weather places to be this winter as the thermometer drops to record lows.  Visit Sarasota County (VSC) is reminding them of our sunny shores with imagery of Sarasota County on the interior walls of a train car in Chicago. The branding kicked off today and will run through March 9, 2014. The special advertising is part of a cooperative program with Visit Florida.

Visit Florida provided the opportunity to wrap the interior walls of four train cars on the Chicago Blue Line that runs 24-hours, seven days a week. It takes passengers between O’Hare International airport and destinations in downtown Chicago through to neighborhoods in northwest Chicago.

“The timing is perfect,” says Virginia Haley, President of Visit Sarasota County. “We decided to participate in the train wrap opportunity in the fall knowing that it is always easier to sell sunshine in the winter months in Chicago. It is purely serendipitous that the advertising is scheduled to launch when Chicago is having record low temperatures. We hope it will drive more people to our sunny shores in the coming months.”

VSC wrapped the inside of one of the four train cars with stunning imagery of our beaches, accommodates and attractions. The Ringling, the Sarasota Ballet and the Sarasota Opera along with Lido Beach Resort, the Resort at Longboat Key Club and the Helmsley Sandcastle paid to be part of the VSC sponsored car. The exterior of the train cars showcase imagery and logos from Visit Florida as well as the VSC logo. The other three train cars are sponsored by Sea World, Busch Gardens and Panama City Beach.

VSC’s  train advertising features a unique URL of where Chicago residents can peruse unique deals and learn more about visiting the destination. The train car advertising is complimented by print ads in the Chicago Tribune and in TV spots on local networks and cable channels.

Additionally, VSC will host a reception for media, travel trade industry and sports event organizers at The Palmer House, named after Bertha Palmer a Chicago socialite and a Sarasota founder, in late January to further tie the Sarasota name to the Chicago market.
