SARASOTA, Fla. (December 16, 2014) –   District of Columbia resident Jodi McCarthy won a trip to Sarasota County for her tweet in Visit Sarasota County (VSC) #BraveLikeNik Twitter contest.

“We are delighted she is from one of our key visitor of origin markets,” said Erin Duggan, director of brand for VSC. “We hope she enjoys her visit and spreads the word about her time in Sarasota County with her friends and family.”

Visit Sarasota County ran the contest around high wire artist, and Sarasota County native Nik Wallenda’s successful attempt to cross the Chicago River on a tight rope and blindfolded on Sunday, November 2, 2014.

Promoted exclusively on Twitter, the campaign ran in the days surrounding Wallenda’s walk.  Wallenda fans entered the contest by telling Visit Sarasota County why they were brave just like Nik was brave for walking across the Chicago River on a tight rope blindfolded.  Fans were required to reply to a @VisitSarasota tweet or tag @VisitSarasota and use the hashtag #BraveLikeNik in their post.
