Learn about this unique park developed by Silver Springs owners Carl Ray and Shorty Davidson who opened a parallel attraction for African Americans during the Jim Crow period. They did so at the urging of their African American glass bottom boat captains who wanted their families and friends to have access to one of Florida’s most famous natural resources. Doors open at 6:30 PM; program starts at 7. Free to members; $5 for non-members Light refreshments available This program is hosted by the Friends of the Sarasota County History Center and sponsored by the Florida Humanities Council with funds from the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and Florida Council on Arts and Culture.
