This Friday night at Cafe in the Park Dinner and Drink service begins at 6:00 PM Performance 7:00 PM The Hummingbirds Southern Charm & Detroit Grit is the essence of this Americana duo playing at the cafe this Friday night. Their music grips both northern and southern Americana roots, blending grit and self-reliance with hospitality and charm. Genuine and playful, earnest & soulful, this Tampa based, Detroit raised duo (S.G. Wood & Rachel Lynn) have a hybrid sound that is all their own. Expect to hear tales of love and loss, sure, but expect the unexpected as they weave in stories of rattlesnakes and swamps, highways, and lighthouses. Their male-female duos and back-and-forth stage banter light up the room and entertain even the hardest of hearts. No Depression Magazine says: “Excellent music. Absolutely beautiful vocals. Humid and hot with ice-cold lemonade up against your sweaty cheek musicianship. Yeah…back porch, black cat moan type mood done quite successfully.” Recently voted semi-finalists in the Texas Songwriter Serenade Competition, Best of Tampa Bay (FL) Americana Nominees, and winners of several Detroit Music Awards (MI), The Hummingbirds are certainly making a name for themselves across the U.S. in the Americana roots genre. In addition to all of the touring and live performance, The Hummingbirds have also had some of their songs placed in films, one being, a major motion film, starring Dennis Quaid. Their recordings, (most recently 2015’s release, 13 Days) along with their live stage chemistry has garnered them the favorable attention of fans and music critics alike from Detroit to Tampa, Asheville, to Nashville, and many towns and cities in between.
