United StatesMarvel at the interplay between soloists and ensemble in music by the great Baroque masters: J.S. Bach and Vivaldi. Revered by oboists as one of their greatest treasures, Bach's Concerto for Oboe and Violin is a gloriously crafted musical melding of the two instruments. Festival Director Jeffrey Kahane conducts from the harpsichord for Bach's sprightly Keyboard Concerto, the composer's own arrangement of the Brandenburg Concerto No. 4. Vivaldi's only concerto for the unusual combination of two cellos offers double the melancholy lyricism. In the concert finale, faculty member Ani Kavafian shines in the famous "Summer" from Vivaldi's iconic The Four Seasons.
