Newtown Alive History Speaker Series
Various Venues in Sarasota (see below)
"Newtown Alive" presents a speaker’s series. Hear Sarasota history "live & local" from African American trailblazers who watched significant events unfold. Why, when and where did black pioneers settle in the sleepy fishing village? How did they support families and socialize? Find out about their values and the community's growth and development. A documentary short accompanies the talk. An honorarium is accepted.
