The Light Chasers: Plein Air Painters of the Sun Coast will host a weekend of shows in March of 2018.
Light Chasers kick off with a Quick Draw at Phillippi Estate Park’s Farmer’s Market March 7. About 100 artists will paint from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. throughout the park. Artist bring finished paintings to the Farmer’s Market for judging, prizes and sales. The group also offers raffle tickets for a beautiful painting by Joseph Melancon, one of our featured artists. Last year’s Quick Draw was the biggest day in the history of the market.
March 8 kicks off the week-long Paint Sarasota Paint Out! This is the largest paint out in Florida with nearly 100 artists painting Sarasota County. Special days at Ringling, Spanish Point, Marie Selby, Phillippi Estate Park and others let everyone see the painters at work. A schedule is available March 1 on lightchasersinc.com.
The Show Weekend kicks off at the Edson Keith Mansion at Phillippi Estate Park March 16. Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m., view the 6th Annual Light Chasers Member Show and the Featured Artists of the Light Chasers Show. Prizes for both shows are awarded at 7 p.m.
On Saturday evening, March 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. come view the wonderful landscapes of the Sun Coast done in the Paint Sarasota Paint Out. Prizes for best paintings are awarded at 7 p.m. On Sunday, March 18, you can have a last look and chance to choose and buy from over 200 paintings on exhibit at the Edson Keith Mansion.
Donations at the door and a portion of painting sales from all events go to the restoration of the Edson Keith Farmhouse at Phillippi Estate Park.
Paintings, refreshments, music, and beautiful décor make special evenings on March 16-17. Last year over 4000 people came to view our landscape paintings of Sarasota at the Quick Draw, the Paint Sarasota Paint Out, and the Show Weekend at the Edson Keith Mansion. Come meet the artists! Light Chaser’s exhibits and sale have become the premier art show in Sarasota County.
