Eat Local Week 2019
Various Sarasota Venues
Eat Local Week, Transition Sarasota’s popular annual celebration of local food includes a mix of farm to table meals, tours of farms and food operations and educational events covering a range of topics, from permaculture and urban gardening to sustainable aquaculture.
The two-week festival gets rolling on Thursday, Oct. 17, with a keynote presentation by Tracie Troxler, Executive Director of Sunshine Community Compost. Tracie is passionate about composting and will share her vision for our community, successes in neighborhood groups, and things we can do to reduce our carbon footprint.
On Saturday Oct. 19 we have Big Mama’s Collard Green Fest, which challenges local chefs and cooks to create mouth-watering samples out of their best collard green recipes. Locals are encouraged to sample a mix of Cajun, Creole, Southern and Caribbean flavors, while also enjoying live music.
