Norwegian conductor Rune Bergmann makes his Sarasota Orchestra debut featuring one of the most colorful symphonies of all time. The passionate melodies and lush orchestration of Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 have inspired popular songs and movie scores. Violinist Stella Chen, winner of the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition and a past Sarasota Music Festival Fellow, performs Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2. This concert is replete with soaring melodies, lively folk-dance episodes, and dazzling violin pyrotechnics.
