LaBrea is one of ten neighborhood parks within the City of North Port parks system. The deed to LaBrea Park was presented to the City of North Port by General Development Corporation at a Commission workshop in June of 1976. The 2.69 acre park includes green space with Live Oak, American Elm, Eucalyptus and Sabal Palm. In May of 2012, the City collaborated with People for Trees to plant additional trees at this park site with several local service clubs and organizations volunteering their assistance. Amenities at the park include picnic tables, grill and a pavilion that accommodates up to 15 people. There is also a playground, lighted basketball court and recreational baseball field (not lighted) on site. The pavilion at this park is available for rental through the Parks and Recreation Division.
