Spring Training in Sarasota

Play ball! Spring training is back in Sarasota, Florida where two MLB teams now call their spring home: the Baltimore Orioles and, for the first time in North Port, the Atlanta Braves.

Spring Training in sunny Sarasota has returned, bringing not one, but two MLB teams to our little slice of heaven, making Florida’s West Coast the best coast for watching as many MLB games as possible in March. Eight Grapefruit League teams reside on the Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlanta Braves will be the ninth when they play their inaugural Spring Training game at Cool Today Park in West Villages (south Sarasota County) on March 24.

10 Seasons in “Birdland South”

The Baltimore Orioles are spending their 10th spring in Sarasota, and expect to welcome their ONE MILLIONTH FAN to Ed Smith Stadium this season! The Orioles kick off the spring at home against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday, Feb. 23, the first of 17 home games.

Bring on the Braves

For over 70 straight years, the Atlanta Braves organization has played their spring ball in Florida. By 2020, the Braves will permanently trade their current Spring Training home at Disney’s Wide World of Sports for a brand new state-of-the-art complex in North Port’s West Villages District, a master-planned community in south Sarasota County.

Cool Today Park will fit over 7,000 fans and include outfield patio and bar areas. The Public Plaza and multipurpose fields outside the stadium will be available for events such as farmers markets, art shows and more when there are not Atlanta Braves activities.

The Braves will begin 2019 in Kissimmee, but play their inaugural game in West Villages on Sunday, March 24.
