There’s plenty to see and do during your spring break stay in Sarasota County!

Schools are on break, the sun is out, and Sarasota's events calendar is jam-packed with ways to enjoy the spring season. Check out our events guide to plan your sun in the fun this March.

Major League Baseball's Baltimore Orioles call Sarasota's Ed Smith Stadium “Birdland South” during spring training. Ringling Underground takes place on the first Thursdays of March and April in the Ringling Museum Courtyard, where attendees gather under the stars for an evening of eclectic local and regional music, refreshments, and pop-up installations from up-and-coming contemporary artists. March 7 and April 4, 8:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. at The Ringling.

Join Donkey, Shrek, and Princess Fiona for a fairy tale evening in the Ringling Courtyard: More Than a Movie: SHREK is an immersive film experience for the whole family. March 8, 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at The Ringling.

The Rosemary District's newest residents are teaming up to throw a block party that celebrates their up-and-coming neighborhood. Music on May Lane will feature live music and refreshments from local eateries including Tsunami Sushi & Hibachi, The Overton, Spice Station, and Make it Swirl. March 8, 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at The Bayside Club.

Celebrate St. Patty's Day a week early at the Irish Celtic Festival & Lucky Dog Parade. Enjoy traditional Celtic food, craft beer, activities for kids, and a parade of furry leprechauns (dogs in costume) during the Lucky Dog Parade benefiting the Humane Society of Lakewood Ranch. March 9, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Greenbrook Adventure Park.

Pack a picnic lunch and soak in the spring sunshine at the Brown Bag Lunch Concert Series, taking place at Phillippi Estate Park every Thursday in March. March 7, 14, 21, and 28, 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Phillippi Estate Park.

Fresh Florida blueberries and strawberries are the darlings of the Fruitville Grove Berry Fest. The festival features meet-and-greets with the farm's spring baby animals and sweet berry treats like organic strawberry lemonade and hand-dipped blueberry cheesecake ice cream. March 2-3, 9-10, and 16-17, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Fruitville Grove.

The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee’s 10th annual Jewish Film Festival runs through March, with 42 screenings in six days! The festival features 18 new films from around the world, many of which are regional premieres, screened mostly in three theaters at the Regal Hollywood 11 in downtown Sarasota. March 6-17 at Regal Hollywood 11, Temple Beth Israel (Longboat Key) and Sarasota Municipal Auditorium.

Sip on Old Florida history at Tea with Bertha Palmer. Ms. Palmer, an early 20th century Chicago businesswoman, philanthropist, and influential figure in Florida agriculture, will travel a century in time to host a tea party at her home at Historic Spanish Point, delighting guests with stories from her life in Sarasota. March 13, 2:00 p.m. at Historic Spanish Point

Get away from city lights and into the wilderness for the Moon Over Myakka Concert series. Florida-based Eagles cover band, The Alter Eagles, takes the Myakka State Park stage for the outdoor concert series' March show. March 15, 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. at Myakka State Park. 

Deep-fried snacks, local agricultural showcases, thrill-rides, and carnival games are just some of the classic attractions to look forward to when the 83rd annual Sarasota County Fair comes to town. March 15 - March 24 at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds.

Spring is in full bloom at the Sarasota Garden Club in March. The biggest floral fêtes of the season include the Gardens in Paradise private gardens tour on March 16 and the SGC Preview Party and Wedding Flower Show on March 29 and 30

My Hometown Fest presents craft beer, classic American bites from local restaurants, live music, and family-friendly activities — all for a good cause: festival proceeds support the Sertoma Club of Greater Sarasota and Sertoma Kids in their efforts to assist area children and families with speech and language disabilities. March 23, 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Nathan Benderson Park.

Pump up the family's bike tires and grease those chains for Tour De Parks bike ride on the Legacy Trail. This annual rolling tour through Sarasota County's trailside parks includes 21, 35, and 62-mile scenic fun rides that start and finish at the historic Venice Train Depot trailhead. March 24, 6:30 a.m. registration and breakfast. First ride begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Venice Train Depot.
