Savor Venice and Englewood in June

Try a tast of delicious dishes in Venice and Englewood during Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week

Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week puts the spotlight on the best and most creative cuisine throughout Sarasota County, featuring outstanding deals on prix fixe meals. Try a taste of some of the most delectable dishes at restaurants in Venice, Englewood, and Nokomis.

Venice's Blu Island Bistro garnered its share of accolades in 2018, including: best breakfast, lunch, and brunch, and was also voted a finalist in the running for best overall restaurant in Venice. Open from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., this beachy breakfast and lunch spot features a Savor Sarasota lunch menu that includes the locally-sourced Blu Mixed Greens Salad, Blackened Mahi Tacos or Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches, and Chef Alan's signature dessert, "Blu*berry" Crumb Cake.

Head to Bonefish Grill for a Savor Sarasota special on Bonefish classics like Lily's Chicken or Salmon, George's Bank Scallops and Shrimp, six-ounce Filet Mignon, and desserts like the Macadamia Nut Brownie or Jen's Jamaican Coconut Pie.

Cafe Venice Restaurant & Wine Bar is a local standard where an exquisite fine wine collection and classy white tablecloths are paired with casual Florida cuisine. Savor Sarasota offerings include Duck Pot Stickers or Spinach Salad with goat cheese and prosciutto, Shrimp Vodka Fettuccini, and Cafe Venice's Homemade Key Lime Pie.

For fine cuts of Savor Sarasota beef, visit Chaz 51 during lunch or dinner during Restaurant Week. Lunch features Chaz 51's bunless "naked" Kobe Burger served sizzling on a skillet with sautéed cherry peppers and onions, and a side house-made coleslaw. For dinner, sink your teeth into six-ounce Angus Filet Mignon with grilled jumbo shrimp and jalapeno mac and cheese. A light dessert includes fresh berries and ice cream.

A longstanding Venice waterfront landmark, Crow's Nest, has been on the map since 1976. With an extensive wine list featuring over 1,000 selections, the Crow's Nest is a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence Recipient for over 20 years, and is frequently voted Venice's "Best All Around Restaurant." For Savor Sarasota, we recommend the Mango, Papaya and Baby Kale Salad with fried burrata, the Seared Red Snapper with creamy coconut orzo, arugula and corn salad and a sweet and spicy pepper sauce, and Strawberry Cheesecake served with a Belgian waffle for dessert.

Of the nearly 90 restaurants participating in Savor Sarasota 2018, Englewood's Farlow's on the Water offers one of the most extensive menus. Savor slow-roasted pork belly over Farlow's house-made cashew butter with apple slaw and homemade pepper jelly, Tuna Tartare, or Beer Cheese and Crab Soup for a starter before diving into the Savor Sarasota entrees such as: Sweet Tea Brined Free-Range Chicken served over southern-style farro with fresh farm-to-table vegetables, Black Truffle Macaroni and Cheese with sautéed shrimp, or Pork Tenderloin brined with West Indian spices served over a Brussel sprout sweet potato hash. ...And that's just a selection from the dinner menu! Visit Farlow's on the Water's Savor Sarasota page for full the full dinner, lunch, and dessert menu.

Situated overlooking the Venice Pier, Fins at Sharky's is known for its contemporary-coastal ambiance and creative global cuisine featuring seasonal South Florida ingredients. Like Farlow's, Fins offers an exceptionally diverse menu for Savor Sarasota. We're wowed by the Baked Bucheron (soft ripe goat cheese, roasted garlic, tomato jam, and cracked black pepper, on crostini), Kung Pao Calamari Salad, Swordfish au Poivre, and the sinfully good, yet gluten and dairy free, Hazelnut-Lavender Macarons with Mixed Berry Sorbet.

At Howard's Restaurant, it's a tough choice between surf or turf, as the restaurant excels in all things steak and seafood. For Savor Sarasota, why not try both? Start with three large seared scallops served over a Moroccan couscous pilaf and topped with a grilled vegetable gazpacho sauce, before moving onto a main course of Grilled Beef Tenderloin, served over a parsnip potato and shiitake mushroom hash, sautéed spinach, and topped with a pomegranate demi-glace — or the Monkfish and Chorizo Kebabs served over lobster risotto and grilled asparagus. Round out a delicious dinner with creme brulee cheesecake or chocolate chip brownie a la mode.
