An Array of New Service at SRQ Airport Taking Flight in 2019

Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport service is exploding, with direct flights to and from 26 U.S. cities by the end of 2019. See if your hometown airport made the list.

If planning a trip to Sarasota has been on your bucket list, there’s good news. It just got a whole lot easier to get to Sarasota County, thanks to all the new flights being added at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) in 2019.

Allegiant Airlines

Allegiant has announced a whopping nine new routes for 2019. The airline will be offering new year-round, twice-weekly service between SRQ and Asheville, N.C.; Baltimore, Md.; Syracuse, N.Y.; Harrisburg, Pa.; Columbus, Ohio; Richmond, Va.; Cleveland, Ohio; Grand Rapids, Mich.; and Nashville, Tenn. Service to and from Ashville and Baltimore began in February, with the rest of the routes taking off in April.

“The airport has experienced substantial growth since Allegiant began service in April [2018],” said Rick Piccolo, president and CEO of Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, when the new 2019 flights were announced. “The addition of nine new cities will provide our community with many more ultra-low-cost options, and we look forward to the continued growth and success of Allegiant at SRQ.”

United Airlines

United Airlines announced in April they would be adding twice daily nonstop service from SRQ Airport to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) near the Washington, D.C., area. Service is set to begin October 27, 2019 to accompany United's existing direct service to Chicago and Newark from SRQ. The airport says flight times are optimized to operate into the peak international departure/arrival bank at IAD and will leave SRQ at 9:30 a.m. and 1:33 p.m. for 11:45 a.m. and 3:50 p.m. arrivals in IAD. The two flight times from IAD to SRQ are listed as 8:15 a.m. and 5:15 p.m.

Frontier Airlines

Frontier Airlines is also adding new service for 2019. Twice-weekly flights to and from Philadelphia and flights to and from Atlanta that run three days a week are currently being offered for booking through April 29. Monday and Friday flights to and from Cleveland are currently being offered for booking through August 9.

“We are excited to have Frontier Airlines start service at the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport,” said Piccolo when the new routes were announced. “With their ultra-low fares to these high-demand destinations, we expect the new nonstop flights to be a huge success.”

American Airlines

In January, American Airlines began new nonstop service from Philadelphia International Airport to SRQ on Saturdays and Sundays and daily nonstop service from Chicago O’Hare International Airport. These flights from both cities will be offered through September 1, 2019. American’s new nonstop service between Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport and SRQ will operate daily through March and on Saturday only from April to October.

Elite Airways

On March 16, Elite Airways began new nonstop, year-round service between Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City, Mich. and SRQ on Saturdays to start, then moving to twice weekly in the summer. Elite also flies between SRQ and Portland, Maine, two times a week throughout the year.

More Direct Options Than Ever!

These new flights add to the array of nonstop destinations already available at SRQ, which includes daily, year-round service to Atlanta on Delta Air Lines, Chicago on United Airlines, New York’s JFK International Airport on JetBlue, and Washington National Airport on American.

When it is all said and done in 2019, SRQ will offer nonstop flights to and from 26 different cities. Which makes it easier than ever to plan a trip to Sarasota to escape the cold or spend some time on the beach this summer.
