Art Uptown will present Frank Bibbins’ Myakka River photography collection captured over the past decade in the 590-square-mile preserve, located mostly within Sarasota County. The Myakka River watershed is a story told by its landscape. Black and white “infrared” and “low color” imagery were chosen to showcase Myakka in a unique and timeless manner. There is no other Myakka River in the world. The more we concentrate on a place like Myakka, the better the chances we have of conserving it and others like it. This exhibit is a metaphor for what we hold dear and wish to preserve. Frank believes that photography is a journey through place and time and thought; it’s one he hopes all will enjoy. The exhibit opens on May 25 and runs through June 28. A public reception will be held on Friday, June 7 from 6-9 p.m. at Art Uptown Gallery, 1367 Main St., Sarasota. Telephone 941-955-5409 for further information.
